Importance of Sun as a Star (Short briefing)
Nothing is more important to us on Earth than the Sun. Without the Sun’s heat and light, the Earth would be a lifeless ball of ice-coated rock. The Sun warms our seas, stirs our atmosphere, generates our weather patterns, and gives energy to the growing green plants that provide the food and oxygen for life on Earth. Information by Nasa

Short history of Astrology
Astronomical observation begins with the early civilizations of Mesopotamia, where prominent constellations (the patterns formed by stars in the galaxy) are recognized and named soon after 3000 BC in history of human being. After about 2600 B.C. people worked over science and studied element and their aspects (light). Most astrologers claimed that astrology originated in Babylon far back in antiquity, with the Babylonians developing their own form of horoscopes around 2,400 years ago but reality is far from these statements.
Muslims Scholars, philosophers and sufis claimed that this knowledge was revealed to Prophet Idrees (A.S) from Allah (SWT)

Medieval Islamic Astrology
Medieval Islamic astrology and astronomy continued Hellenistic and Roman era traditions based on Ptolemy‘s Almagest. Centres of learning in medicine and astronomy/astrology were set up in Baghdad and Damascus, and the Caliph Al-Mansur of Baghdad established a major observatory and library in the city, making it the world’s astronomical centre. During this time knowledge of astronomy was greatly increased, and the astrolabe was invented by Al Fazari. Many modern star names are derived from their Arabic and Persian names.

Albumasur or Abu Ma’shar (805 – 885) was one of the most influential Islamic astrologers. His treatise Introductorium in Astronomiam (Kitab al-Mudkhal al-Kabīr) spoke of how ‘”only by observing the great diversity of planetary motions can we comprehend the unnumbered varieties of change in this world”. The Introductorium was one of the first books to find its way in translation through Spain and into Europe in the Middle Ages, and was highly influential in the revival of astrology and astronomy there. The Current Faith
People (Muslims) have different opinions and faiths in current situation of Islam. Some think that islamic astrology is haram (prohibited) in Islam because these celestial bodies aren’t useful or helpful for any other being rather they are used to hit shetan. Some think that these are just adornment for us as Allah said in Quran. Some people think that celestial bodies were sky deities in paganism that’s why we can’t believe in this. Some people quote Hadith of Prophet Muhammad(s) makes it prohibited for Muslim etc.
I am challenging all scholars who are against pure astrology as a beneficial Knowledge, that they should debate with me or send a single evidence about prohibition of astrology according to Quran.”

Quran about Astronomy and Astrology
There are many verses in Quran which support knowledge to promote better way of living life but only some are mentioned below:

In Quran, Allah swears on heaven and mentions (Constellations) of stars in Surah Al Burooj

When Allah says these word (word of swear) for anything then it means that particular thing is useful and helpful for all his creation. This act of Allah builds up the dignity and Intelligence of that particular thing. Then in Quran Surah Al- Imran Allah said:

الَّذِينَ يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ قِيَامًا وَقُعُودًا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِهِمْ وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَٰذَا بَاطِلًا سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ – 3:191
Translation
Who remembers Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and gives thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], “Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Then again in Sorah Noah:

وَعَلَامَاتٍ ۚ وَبِالنَّجْمِ هُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ –
16:16 Translation
And landmarks (signs). And by the stars they are [also] guided.

From this verse people perceived acccording to their knowledge but Allah is mentioning straight guidance from stars for us. Most people think In old times, travelers in deserts & mountains used to get direction from stars. This is one benefit but not the only benefit from Allah’s creation. So don’t just perceive single aspect which you desire.

Ending Point
As a mostly islamic scholars are giving irrelevant references from Quran due to christian conspiracy, they probably perceived wrong from their wisdom, mostly in Pakistan they give these type of references:
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ – 37:6

Surely We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment, the stars (Planets),

And the scholars say that these adornments are only decoration from Allah and these are not useful and helpful at all. But they may not know this ayat which is also in Quran:
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا – 18:7

Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed.

Earth is useful and helpful for living things. We humans and other creation are surviving through its abilities, just like atmosphere, food, medication and etc. Planet earth and its abilities are one of the cause of life & death and destiny. Then why not other planets are helpful for us like Sun. Allah also reveals many aspects of sun and moon in Quran.
Sit back and think over it and then decide its prohibition.
